Rice is a simple, nutritious, and filling food that can be eaten on its own, added to other dishes, served as a side dish, or even made into delicious desserts.

There are many different ways to cook rice, and some of the most popular include boiling and steaming. The best way to get fluffy rice is rinsing and washing the rice before cooking, and this is important every time you cook the rice.

By far, the easiest way to cook rice is by using an InstantPot Pressure Cooker.

We will show you how to do it below.

the biggest mistake

The biggest mistake most people make which results in overcooked, soggy, gluey rice is using the wrong amount of water for the amount of rice!

Don't measure your rice in grams or on the scales - it is too complicated! It's simple...

The easy way

Use any cup, even a small coffee cup. Just get the ratio right.

The correct rice to water ratio is 1:1.5 (1 cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water).

NOTE: If you are using an InstantPot or pressure cooker, the ratio is 1:1 which means 1 Cup of water to 1 Cup of rice, so simple!

how to cook rice on the stove

1. get everything ready!

You will need to have these things ready to go...

- 1.5 cups water

- 1 cup rice

- A pinch of salt

2. rinse the rice thoroughly

Rinse the rice before cooking it.

Put the rice in a sieve and wash it under fresh running water for a minute. When the water runs clear, you're done!

3. cook the rice

Add the rice and water to a non-stick pan. Bring the water to a boil, then turn the heat to low. Cover the pot with a lid and don't take it off for 15 minutes. During this time the rice will cook through and absorb all the liquid. If the rice bubbles over, make sure the heat is on its lowest setting.

4. let it rest

After the cooking time, turn the heat off but leave the rice covered and undisturbed for 5 more minutes.

5. enjoy your fluffy rice!

You are now ready to serve! Fluff the rice up gently with a fork and stir through some chopped herbs, or drizzle a little fresh lemon juice if you like to add a little flavour. Now serve!
